Plans & billing

Plainpaper has three plans and one rule that makes them easy to reason about: every plan has every feature. The plans differ only in capacity, in how many workspaces, people, and active boards you get. Access to the product itself is the same on all of them.

The trial

Every account starts with 7 free days of the full product. There's no credit card to enter and no feature gates or cut-down mode: the trial is the real thing, so what you evaluate is what you'd pay for. If you subscribe before the week is up, your paid plan starts right away. And since there's no card on file, there's nothing to cancel if you walk away. A lapsed trial can never turn into a surprise charge.

The plans

Workspaces 1 5 15

Active boards per workspace 20 30 Unlimited

EUR €29 / mo €79 / mo €149 / mo
GBP £25 / mo £69 / mo £129 / mo

Annual billing is ten months for the price of twelve in every currency, two months free.

There is no feature ladder. Brand guidelines, templates, version history, approvals, agent connections, sharing: all of it is on every plan, including the trial. If Starter's caps fit your work, Starter is the whole product.

A rough guide to choosing: Starter fits one person running one brand. Scale fits a small team, or one marketer running several brands, since five workspaces means five fully separate brands. Business fits an agency-sized roster: fifteen brands, twenty-five people, and no ceiling on boards.

What counts as a person

A seat is every human member across the workspaces you own, in any role. A viewer takes a seat just like an editor, and the owner counts too. Starter's cap of 1 means exactly you, with no invites.

Two things deliberately don't count:

  • Agent connections are free. Connect Claude to every workspace you have; your AI never takes a seat.
  • Other people's workspaces. Being invited into a workspace someone else owns never counts against your own plan; only workspaces you own do.

An example: on Scale you own three workspaces, with you and seven colleagues spread across them. That's eight of your ten seats, however the seven are distributed and whatever roles they hold.

Prices exclude VAT

Every price above is excluding VAT. Tax is added at checkout based on your location, so the checkout total can be higher than the listed price; how much higher depends on your country's rate.

If your trial ends without a plan

Nothing is deleted. When the trial lapses without a subscription, your account drops to a limited free state instead of locking you out:

  • You keep your workspace, and your most recent board stays active.
  • Your other boards are archived: still there, but they can't be restored on the free plan.
  • Invites are off, and other members of your workspace lose access until you subscribe.
  • Your agent keeps working on the active board; the connection doesn't break.

Subscribing lifts all of it: archived boards become restorable, members get back in, and your caps return to your plan's.

Changing plans

Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately and are prorated: you're billed one period at the new price, minus credit for the unused part of the old one, and your renewal date moves to the day you switched.

Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep what you paid for until then.

Downgrading below what you already use never takes work away. Drop from Scale to Starter with five workspaces and ten members, and you keep all of them. You just can't create more workspaces, members, or boards until you're back under the new plan's caps.

Currency

Pay in USD, EUR, or GBP; pick your currency before your first payment. After that, your subscription's currency is fixed: changing it means cancelling and re-subscribing in the new currency. So if your bookkeeping runs in one currency, choose it up front. Each currency has its own list price. The GBP prices are set as prices rather than converted at checkout.
